Author: Robert Browning
Number of Pages:
Poems By Robert Browning, is a collection of poetry written by the English poet Robert Browning. Browning's poetry, with its flamboyant characters and dramatic situations, lends itself to illustration by a sympathetic artist, and this volume is the product of just such a commission. Originally issued as one of the first titles in the Endymion series of illustrated poets in 1897, it was the work of a 25-year-old artist, Byam Shaw. Byam Shaw's combination of fanciful detail with strong portraiture was ideally suited to the subject, and the result is undoubtedly an 'illustrated' rather than 'decorated' book.
