A new edition to celebrate the 40th anniversary of first publication of Pynchon's classic book. Discover Thomas Pynchon's brilliant writing in this postmodern literature classic. 'The greatest, wildest author of his generation' GuardianWe could tell you the year is 1944, that the main character is called Tyrone Slothrop and that he has a problem because bombs are falling across Europe and crashing to the earth at the exact locations of his sexual conquests. But that doesn't really begin to cover it.Reading this book is like falling down a rabbit hole into an outlandish, sinister, mysterious, absurd, compulsive netherworld. As The Financial Times said, 'you must forget earlier notions about life and letters and even the Novel.' Forty years since its publication, Gravity's Rainbow has lost none of its power to enthral.

Gravity’s Rainbow

Well, I don’t think anyone would blame me for saying that the request for a review of this book has arrived a teensy bit early. I have started and am looking forward to a long enjoyable read.
So far - it is outrageous, enjoyable, unnerving in its chaotic tumble of information as we get to know our main character and his predilections.
It is a very darkly funny story and, well, war is hell etc.
The grinding detail of most accepted war based narratives seem to attempt to juxtapose the hideous novelty of the horrors of war with the mind numbing, infinitesimal technical and command/control detail involved in conducting them. This is not one of those, but Gravity’s Rainbow is interminable in the crazy detail of the crazy effects of experiencing or participation in war, at any level.
Interesting read, I look forward to hoping I can finish it. Actually I think reviewing it now after maybe 30 pages is way easier than attempting a review once the book has been fully consumed.
If you think this review is odd, I recommend reading this novel.
