Sometimes we envisage painting as four pots of ready-mix paint with a brush in each -- but painting has the potential to be so much more than that!
Through the process of painting we allow children to esperience a huge variety of different textures and colours, not only through the paint but also through the surfaces they paint on and the equipment that we give them to paint with.
Learning to paint is sometimes about recording what you see and knowing that the sky isn't always blue, clouds aren't always white and trees aren't always green. But it is also about putting onto paper what is in your imagination. For a young child it is also about enjoying the feeling of spreading thick paint across a table-top with their fingers or watching drops of paint explode on an icing-sugar wash.
