This extraordinary collection presents three hundred and thirty-seven engraved plates paired with accompanying verse, drawing its subjects entirely from the histories and parables of the Old and New Testaments, rendering sacred scripture into a richly layered meditation on faith, morality, and the human condition.\n\nLuiken's singular genius lay in his capacity to translate theological narrative into images of striking emotional immediacy, each engraving alive with dramatic movement and symbolic depth that reflects the broader Dutch Reformed tradition of devotional art. Published posthumously in Amsterdam in 1711, this work chronicles the full arc of biblical history through a uniquely baroque sensibility — one that instructs the eye and stirs the soul in equal measure. Scholars of religious iconography, Dutch printmaking, and seventeenth-century poetry will find in its pages an indispensable testament to an era when art and scripture were considered inseparable companions, leaving the reader to wonder how one man's vision could so completely illuminate an entire faith.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Secondhand Stock","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50572439290075,"sku":"2026100008684-SECONDHAND","price":50.0,"currency_code":"AUD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0523\/7646\/9701\/files\/001d8ecf-694a-400f-96bd-e043cea8c610.png?v=1791166546","url":"https:\/\/bookgrocer.com\/products\/2026100008684-secondhand-drie-honderd-zeven-en-dertig-konstplaaten-en-rymen-geschiedenissen-en-gelykenissen-uit-het-oude-en-het-nieuwe-testament","provider":"Book Grocer","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
