This remarkable anthology presents verse composed by students, staff, and alumni of Fintona Girls' School in Melbourne, capturing the evolving sensibilities, aspirations, and everyday lives of generations of young women across dramatically changing times. The collection chronicles themes of youth, identity, nature, friendship, and the passage of time, offering an intimate and surprisingly moving portrait of institutional and personal history told through the art of verse.\n\nEdited with evident care and affection by Phyllis Reichl and Helen Dick, the anthology serves simultaneously as a literary record and a social document, illuminating how the written word functioned as both creative expression and communal memory within an educational setting. The verses range in tone from playful and whimsical to reflective and earnest, reflecting the full spectrum of school life across a century. For lovers of Australian social history, educational heritage, and the quiet power of amateur verse, this centenary volume is a rare and treasured keepsake — one that asks what endures when young voices are given the freedom to speak.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Secondhand Stock","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50572995297499,"sku":"2026100011144-SECONDHAND","price":25.0,"currency_code":"AUD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0523\/7646\/9701\/files\/90645f80-4ccc-4c67-842f-46768e2d129c.png?v=1791167657","url":"https:\/\/bookgrocer.com\/products\/2026100011144-secondhand-a-century-of-fintona-verse-from-the-fintonian-1896-1996-signed","provider":"Book Grocer","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
