The Golden Miles is written by H.H. Wilson and published by Rigby in 1977. It tells the fascinating story of the Western Australian goldfields in the area south of Southern Cross and Coolgardie: the area in which was discovered the richest field of all-Kalgoorlie's Golden Mile. It is a story of fortunes won and lost, of extraordinary luck and crushing disappointment. Not every find triggered off an explosion of riches. There were many like King Solomon's mine which produced a stone "liberally studded with gold' -and then nothing. And there were mines like Londonderry's famous Golden Hole, a treasure chest which turned almost overnight into a "fizzer". Even the world-renowned Golden Eagle, a nugget so heavy that it could not be weighed on ordinary bank scales, was found in an area that proved otherwise unspectacular. First Edition. Ex- Library - sticker is affixed to front pastedown. Condition: Good. Dust jacket: Good with general shelf wear. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting.
