A step away from my usual genre

I am not a romance reader! My usual genre is Golden Age of Crime, Fantasy and Sci-fi. But the most important thing to me is that the book is well written with believable characters you can relate to. I watched the Netflix series with my wife and found that I white enjoyed it. It reminded a bit of Jane Austen which I had studied at school and had enjoyed. I purchased the Duke and I and thoroughly enjoyed the book. Again, Jane Austen came to mind. Both that book and The Viscount Who Loved Me are extremely well written. I found I could not only accept that the characters were likeable but their relationship with each other was both realistic and engaging. I am planning to read the remaining books in the Bridgerton Series, if not one after the other! I will read a couple of my usual genre books between each book but am looking forward to each individual volume. Am I converted to romance novels...probably not. The quality of these books is what has drawn me to them, not the genre as such. However, these are well worth reading.
