As a 30-year collector of books and articles on this subject, I was most entertained to find that this is not just another book pointing to the lack of substance in the myth of the insignificant Stratford businessman producing world-class literature. Amusingly, this tome shows the author's intelligent research into the evidence (which does not exist) and poses credible explanations as to why 'Stratfordians' adhere to the myth. Elizabeth Winkler has the determination and chutzpah of a top-class investigative journalist (with a Masters in English literature) who is willing and more than able to joust with the fossilized adherents to this cultural fraud. Her examination of the most popular alternative authors is forensic and telling. What's most important is that she maintains a justifiable and most humorous neutrality (which she describes by Keat's 'negative capability') in concluding that the jury is still out on 'who did it'.
It was very interesting to hear the story of how the Oxford Dictionary was made.

Life has come between me and reading books for the pure pleasure. Yes I've still been reading but mostly interesting books about money and retirement. This series has returned me smack bang back into reading for enjoyment. The lurking question now is; do I go back to the start, read Magician again and go from there?
