This book is a satirical novel by Anthony Trollope, first published in 1875. It is one of the last significant Victorian novels to have been published in monthly parts. The novel is TrollopeÕs longest, comprising 100 chapters, and is particularly rich in sub-plot. It was inspired by the financial scandals of the early 1870s, and dramatised how greed and dishonesty pervaded the commercial, political, moral, and intellectual life of that era. The book has an introduction by Noel Annan, who was a British historian and academic. The book is illustrated by Francis Mosley, who is a painter and a book illustrator. The book was published by The Folio Society in London in 1992 and has 844 pages.
