Burning Bright: The Autobiography Of Edward Wharton-Tigar is the memoir of English businessman Edward Wharton-Tigar, written in collaboration with A.J. Wilson. Burning Bright is essentially an adventure story, set against a background of big business, ranging over five continents. It points up the frustrations of an energetic and ambitious young man, obliged to work with senior colleagues, hidebound by the sort of traditionalism that brands anyone with initiative and enthusiasm as an "upstartÓ. Edward Wharton-Tigar is one of those who made it to the top, despite such constraints. A flair for finance and a keen perception for business opportunities helped him on his way up. His passion for cigarette cards, which goes back to childhood, is a theme of the book - it once helped him win an important mining concession for his company - and the rarity of his collection today is such that it has been accepted by the British Museum for permanent exhibition after his death. It was published by Metal Bulletin Books in 1987. First Edition. Condition: Good with previous owner's inscription to free endpaper. Dust jacket: Good with the plastic of the DJ. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting.
