Modulor 2: 1955 is a book written by Le Corbusier, also known as Charles Edouard Jeanneret, and published by Faber and Faber ltd in 1958. Let the user speak next were Le Corbusier's final words in The Modulor. Having applied his 'harmonious measure to the human scale' to works of urbanism, architecture and plastic art in Europe and America, he invited his readers' help in developing the idea and extending its use to all departments of design and pro-portion. In Modulor 2 he gives an account of the repercussions of the new measure throughout the world. Criticisms, both favourable and adverse, are reported and answered. Further examples of the practical application of the Modulor are described and illustrated, foremost among them Le Corbusier's own work at Chandigarh, the new capital of the Punjab, and in the new Unite dÕHabitation at Nantes. In a review of The Modulor in Time and Tide Dr. Joseph Rykwert wrote that Ôthe measure as it now stands provides a wonderful means for reconciling the foot/ inch with the metric system and introduces into everyday affairs the sublime element of mathematical harmony'. The publication of Modulor 2, by carrying forward the discussion and exchange of experience, will help towards a clearer definition of the place of the Modulor in the theory and practice of modern architecture. With 243 line and half-tone illustrations. First Edition. Condition: Good with some tanning. Dust jacket: Fair with some shelf wear along the edges of the DJ but otherwise pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting.
