Two comedies by Moli�re, the French playwright and actor, translated by H. Baker and J. Miller, with an introduction by Henri Peyre, and illustrations by Serge Ivanoff. Tartuffe (1664) is a play about a religious hypocrite who tries to deceive a wealthy family and seduce the wife of his host, but is exposed by the clever maid. The Would-Be Gentleman (1670) is a play about a bourgeois man who wants to become a gentleman and imitates the manners and fashions of the nobility, but makes a fool of himself and alienates his family and friends.
