This is a four-volume set of the Newgate Calendar, a collection of biographies of notorious criminals who were executed at Newgate Prison in London from the 17th to the 19th century. The set contains accounts of the crimes, trials, confessions, and executions of various murderers, robbers, pirates, traitors, and other offenders, as well as moral and legal commentary. The set also includes illustrations of some of the criminals and scenes of their crimes. The set was edited by G. T. Crook, a British lawyer and writer, and privately printed for the Navarre Society Limited, a London-based publisher of rare and erotic books, in 1926. Not the whole set, volume one missing. Volume two no DJ.
