Kangaroo is a semi-autobiographical novel by D.H. Lawrence, written during his three-month visit to New South Wales in 1922. The novel explores the themes of nationalism, politics, and personal identity, as well as the Australian landscape and culture. The novel follows the experiences of Richard Lovat Somers, an English writer, and his wife Harriet, who encounter various characters and movements in Australia, including Benjamin Cooley, the leader of a fascist group called the Diggers. The novel was first published in 1923 by Martin Secker in London. This edition was published in 1982 by Currey OÕNeil, with an introduction by Harry T. Moore.
