Stone Barrington, ex-cop turned lawyer and investigator, travels to Venice where he is about to be married to Dolce, the beautiful daughter of a New York Mafioso. Before the ceremonies can be completed he learns of the sudden death of Vance Calder, a film star and husband of Stone's former love, Arrington.
