Originally published in 1953, The Unknown Courier tells the story of 'Operation Mincemeat', a British Intelligence secret plan to mislead the German High Command by planting papers on a corpse washed up on the coast of Spain. Ian Colvin became fascinated by the stories circulating of this audacious plan and acting on a journalistic hunch he started to investigate the story further. Colvin's search led him to Madrid, Gibraltar, Seville and finally to a grave at Huelva, where he was to discover the final resting place of the eponymous unknown courier.
