Mariko Nakamura is a Japanese designer living in West London. She began designing at a young age, drawing pictures of dresses that her mother would sew for her. This was the first time she experienced the special feeling of wearing handmade clothes. Mariko retained her passion for the craft of clothesmaking through the years, and became a fashion student at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo. She arrived in England in 1998, and after studying 3D crafts at Brighton University, started her career as a clothes maker in London. Now, as a mother of two, Mariko most enjoys making children's clothes.
