Atchugarry's father, an artist as well, passed on to him the love for this profession - and he proved to be successful. At his first solo exhibition in Montevideo ( Uruguay), Pablo was only 18 years old. He did not only develop himself as a painter, but also as a celebrated artist using materials as cement, wood and metal. Today his work is present in numerous public and private collections. In Lecco (Italy) he has his own museum. In 2002, he received the Michelangelo Award as an acknowledgement for his artistic career. One year later he represented Uruguay on the Vence Biennale. An exhibition of his works in the Groeningemuseum in Brugge (Belgium) is accompanied by this substantial monograph which amplifies his life and work in elaborate interview. Text in English and Dutch.
