Parallel Lives ,Churchill & Orwell

This book is a biography of Winston Churchill and George Orwell. These two men had little in common except that they were both English.I have read several books about Churchill and he strikes me as a member of the aristocracy who was mostly interested in his own fame.He was an excellent public speaker as well as being an alcoholic with little regard for his fellow humans.Orwell was the son of a public servant who started his career as a policeman in Burma. His experience gave him a life long dislike of the Empire which was a very extreme attitude in the pre WW2 period. If Churchill was a drinker (who lived into his eighties) Orwell was a heavy smoker who died of lung disease just past forty years.Orwell was not well known during his lifetime as made clear by the author but has since become world famous for his remarkably accurate predictions of the future world in his best known book 1984.I thought this was a good read ,one of those books you finish in a week or so.
