An abandoned five-year-old English boy, Leon, is rescued by a compassionate neighbouring family who adopt Leon and move with him to Australia for a better life in 1903. Rocky, a relative of the family already in Australia, allows them to reside in his majestic country homestead, near Wangaratta in Victoria.
