Traditional gift giving gets a little faded and the Christmas assembly of 20 old friends and family led to the random book game. Essentially you wraP up all the books in newspaper, write individual names on the gift tag and let the fun begin. Everyone is allocated someone else at random and in 10 words or more make up creative nonsense about why they are giving that person that particular book.
Because all the books are wrapped up, the giver has no idea what the book is.
The results were hysterically funny. People read books they'd never otherwise read, the swapping generated connections and it was the best use of 22 non-fiction books.
