Geoffrey Serle is a graduate of the University of Melbourne where he taught history before moving to Monash and the Australian National universities. He was general editor of the "Australian Dictionary of Biography" and is the author of "The Golden Age" (1963), "The Rush to be Rich" (1971), "From Deserts the Prophets Come" (1973) and "John Monash" (1982). Ray Marginson was for 23 years Vice-Principal of the University of Melbourne, ten years of this as part-time Chairman of Melbourne Water. He is now President of the Museum of Victoria, and Deputy Chairman of the Melbourne Theatre Company.
