Dominik Schmitt (*1983) is primarily interested in philosophical and biological questions about the self and the unimaginably vast network of causes and effects to which everything in life is subject. Through his mixed-media technique, involving acrylics, oils, and pencils on collaged canvas, he combines the human and the animal, depicting their organs with allusions to the aesthetics of biological illustrations of bodies. Schmitt's images are dominated by a dark, almost gloomy colour palette. This publication provides an overview of Schmitt's recent paintings. Text in English and German. 61 colour, 4 b/w illustrations
